Amber Heard came out to help others lesbians

Amber Heard has revealed why she came out as gay.
The actress says she confirmed her sexuality at last year’s Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation 25th anniversary celebration so she could offer encouragement and support to closeted homosexuals.
“I’ve always been out. Way before that event, there were pictures of me walking to press events holding my girlfriend’s hand,” she said.
“I talked about my relationship because there’s a difference between being a private person and being part of the problem. I knew that I had a responsibility to young people, who right now are without many role models, to kind of step out of my comfort zone and acknowledge that I have a girlfriend without being ambiguous about it.
“At the end of the day, if you’re hiding something, then you are inadvertently saying it’s wrong, and I don’t feel like it’s wrong.”
Amber recently admitted she’s frustrated by the reaction to her “coming out”.
“A lot of the media attention surrounding my relationship has been frustrating simply because I’m a private person,” she said.
“At the end of the day, I think there is an important moment happening in our society right now, and I have to do the right thing. I don’t label myself one way or another. I come from a place where I find it hard to identify with a label. I’ve dated men in the past, and now I’m dating a woman, and I see it as ultimately no big deal.”
