Robert Downey Jr. says being a real man is all about knowing where your car keys are.
The actor who’s expecting his first child with wife Susan explained to G Q magazine why he thinks Hollywood has not moved on from James Dean-like sensitivity or Marlon Brando’s swagger.
“Personally, I think manhood is about self-awareness, about evolving, about keeping it together, really,” he said.
“Knowing where your car keys are and bringing the right equipment.”
Downey who has a history of substance abuse problems but has been sober since 2001 recently admitted he is occasionally surrounded by people taking narcotics but never indulges himself.
Speaking about a scene in his new movie Due Date which sees his character smoke marijuana he said, “I don’t even remember what it’s like, so I would have to be manufacturing some sort of thing.
“I mean, I see it around town. I smell it all the time. But I don’t even know what’s it’s like to be stoned anymore.”
